Report this reviewNice house in Southville, but awful management who won’t do maintenance
Overall
Positive:
Great Southville location, nice neighbors. It’s a solid Victorian terrace with a decent layout, newish kitchen, big bathroom, nice little garden.
Negatives:
Bristol Property Centre is awful for tenants. The communication was terrible, and I honestly felt they treated us with contempt when we would call in. We’ve never had issues with an agent/landlord before. However, the worst is how BPC ignore maintenance issues, even when they pose a safety risk. Our most egregious example, though we have several - we had rain leaking through a light fitting for EIGHT MONTHS. They told us they would send someone out ASAP and to use our lights as little as possible while we wait. After months of rudely blowing us off, an electrician finally comes out to do an inspection. Turns out it was the routine inspection that is required by law every 5 years. Ours had expired the previous week. The electrician had no clue about the issue and was shocked that we'd been living with the safety risk for this long. BPC TRULY doing the minimum here. I wish we’d gotten the council involved sooner. When BPC finally instructed a contractor, it was a circus. Random people showing up with no notice, literally any time of day (as late at 8:30pm!). A total lack of effort or care on BPC’s part. This was a pattern throughout our tenancy.
Advice for next tenants:
I’d avoid renting through Bristol Property Centre. The positive reviews are from landlords and buyers/sellers, definitely not genuine reviews from tenants. If you decide to rent this house, cross your fingers nothing goes wrong, and when it does (it’s an old house), expect a battle.
