Positive:
The neighbours were nice despite being a halfway house. Close proximity to frenchay campus and alright transport links to the centre Easy access to gyms, supermarkets and some really lovely pubs (shoutout the Star!) Decent sized rooms and a nice garden area, kitchen was new ish.
Negatives:
Shared care between landlord and the letting game, both were completely useless. Landlord rarely communicated with the letting agency and problems were left for MONTHS, including serious issues like boilers. Was left with no curtains in the three front facing rooms with my bedroom being ground floor facing fishponds road meaning I had 0 privacy and was unable to sleep past 6am. Landlord also tried to charge us to remove a sofa left by the previous tenants before us and took a month to even get the charges back to us, and then a further two weeks to dispute the cost. House is in general disrepair with broken windows and doors, awful paint job, dodgy floorboards, ratty carpets and a serious mould problem in bathrooms and the main bedroom on the ground floor. On move in the house had barely been cleaned and we found razorblades and old cigarettes in rooms, cupboard and under sofas. Multiple beds were broken, one window pane had a gap between the frame (that didn’t get fixed until december), general mould and mildew smell in the house. Found an entire sainsbury’s bag of the small cartridges used for nitrous oxide and were expected to dispose of this ourselves.
Advice for next tenants:
Don’t live here, the cheap rent lures you in but you quickly realise why it’s so cheap. Worst year of my life, caused a lot of emotional distress.
