Positive:
When major things needed sorting the Landlord was quick to fix them. The rent was below average, meaning we managed to save money for a house deposit and the location is really convenient with a Tesco express close by. Being a middle flat, it was warmed by the surround flats so energy costs were low. Neighbours were all friendly and quiet. Appliances were new, but most basic on the market. Areas feels safe.
Negatives:
The flat is quite run down and hasn't been updated much. We had to replace broken aspects to prevent injury or make cupboards useable. In the winter, damp is a huge problem and the windowless bathroom really suffers. We had to borrow an industrial sized dehumidifier taking up most of the bathroom. We couldn't get clothes dry without damp smell so had to drop them to parents to hang in the garden. Only Virgin Media offers a decent internet speed (otherwise it's copper) so you end up in a monopoly.
Advice for next tenants:
Invest in a good dehumidifier! Otherwise towels and bathroom won't get dry at all. Only Virgin offers fibre broadband so if you're locked into a contract with a different supplier you won't be able to transfer. Also, the local cricket pitch is a lovely place to hangout if you want some nice outside time.
